Albany Convention Center Authority

Branding and Identity

Established by the New York State Legislature in 2004, the Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) is responsible for planning, developing, and managing the Capital Complex—the largest convention venue in upstate New York. The Capital Complex comprises the Albany Capital Center, the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, the Egg Performing Arts Center, and the MVP Arena.
Located just steps from the New York State Capitol in the heart of the Capital District, these venues offer premier facilities for thousands of visitors each year who attend economic, governmental, and cultural events.
Instead of using the abbreviation “ACCA,” Ruth&Co. developed a new brand mark by merging “Albany” (ALB) and “New York” (NY). This approach highlights the Authority’s significant role in both the city of Albany and the state of New York.
The brand statement—“An American crossroads of history, commerce, and culture”—positions Albany as a historic and accessible state capital by emphasizing the economic and social benefits of its meeting and event venues. The branding underscores the Capital Complex’s role in attracting visitors, stimulating economic growth, and highlighting themes of history, accessibility, and development.
